dieser Satz ist sehr umständlich formuliert. Auch wenn ich normalerweise kein Fan unnötig langer Sätze bin, ist mein Vorschlag:

We had to put the dishes away, which wasn't easy because we didn't know where they were supposed to go, nor could we find out where they are usually stored.

Dieser Satz drückt unmissverständlich aus, was du sagen willst.

Mein Vorschlag. Anything klingt ein bisschen fehl am Platz.

Wäre jetzt meine Formulierung. Klingt für mich etwas eleganter. 💁‍♀️
