- Würde sagen das hängt von der Situation, der Beziehung zum Fragenden und Ihrem aktuellen emotionalen Zustand ab.So was wie:Fine, thank you. How about you? (Gut, danke. Und dir?)
- Good, thanks. How are you? (Gut, danke. Wie geht es dir?)
- Not bad, and you? (Nicht schlecht, und dir?)
- I'm doing well, thank you. How about yourself? (Mir geht es gut, danke. Und dir?)
- Pretty good, thanks. How are things with you? (Ziemlich gut, danke. Wie läuft es bei dir?)
- So-so, but hanging in there. How about you? (So lala, aber ich halte durch. Und bei dir?)

Hallo,
Während How do you do? eine Grußformel ist und einfach nur Guten Tag heißt - je nach Situation auch Angenehm oder Sehr erfreut (siehe: dict.cc/?s=How+do+you+do%3F) und auch mit How do you do? erwidert wird,
heißt die Frage Wie geht es dir/Ihnen? / Wie geht's? = How are you?
und wird i.d.R. mit
(I'm) fine, thanks. (And you?) (selbst, wenn man auf dem Zahnfleisch und mit dem Kopf unter dem Arm daherkommt- britisches Understatement) erwidert.
Weitere gebräuchliche Erwiderungen:
- Not too bad.
- Very well.
- So-so.
- I'm okay / all right.
- Not too well (, actually.)
Die Frage How are you?
- What's wrong with you?
- What's the matter with you?
- Was machst du / machen sie beruflich? = What do you do?
- Was machst du gerade? = What are you doing?
