Woran erkenne ich welche Zeitform ich für das Passiv im englischen verwenden kann?

Aufgabe:

Shinty is one of the oldest games in the world. Some people think that it (invent) Ireland 2000 years ago and that it (bring) to Scotland by the Irish in the 6th century. Others say that it (play) in Scotland since Celtic times. Shinty is similar to field hockey but faster and more dangerous. In the past, whole villages played against each other. Today, shinty is a club sport which (play) between two teams of 12 players.

Others say that it had been played in Scotland since Celtic times. Shinty is similar to field hockey but faster and more dangerous. In the past, whole villages played against each other. Today, shinty is a club sport which is payed between two teams of 12 players. 

Erklärung had been invented ( war zuerst , bevor es nach Schottland kam = past perfekt)

was brought to Scotland ( erst erfunden (siehe oben), dann wurde es ..... gebracht = Past Tense, da abgeschlossene Handlung im 6. Jh.)

"Erklärung had been invented ( war zuerst , bevor es nach Schottland kam = past perfekt)" - Es ist aber nur eine Aufzählung, darum 'was invented'.
