Das Internationale Olympische Komitee besteht typischerweise nur aus einem Verband pro Land. Wales, England, Schottland sind im Prinzip ja nicht eigenständig, gehören ja alle zu Großbritanien. Im Fußball gibt es jedoch 4 Verbände:
The Football Association für England, Jersey, Guernsey und die Isle of Man Scottish Football Association für Schottland Football Association of Wales für Wales Irish Football Association für Nordirland (bis 1921 ganz Irland).
