Welches Visum brauche ich für 6 Monate USA mit Workaway?
Hi,
ich möchte für ca 6 Monate nach USA. Dafür habe ich mich bei der Seite Workaway.info angemeldet. Dort kann man Gastfamilien finden, bei denen man für Kost und Logis, also ohne Bezahlung aber mit Unterkunft/Verpflegung, arbeiten darf. Die Seite selbst bietet keine Informationen über das Visum, das muss man sich selbst besorgen. Welches benötige ich? Ich bin 18.
Ich habe auch hier und da gelesen, dass das für USA gar nicht geht oder dass man abgelehnt wird und dann gar nicht mehr in die USA darf. Stimmt das? Wissen die Hosts etwas über das Visum? Sollte ich vielleicht bei der US-Botschaft fragen?

Legal ist das nicht möglich. Als ich z.B. bei Tierschutz in den USA geholfen habe, durfte ich dafür bezahlen!
Um ehrlich zu sein geht das so gar nicht. um Dort arbeiten zu dürfen muss dich eine Organisation oder Firma einladen und Sponsoren.
Streng genommen darf man weder unter ESTA noch unter dem B 1/2 Visum in den USA als Volunteer noch für Kost-und Logis Arbeiten.
Hier ein Auszug aus den FAQ der wwoofer Organisation, die ähnliche Probleme für Ihre Mitglieder haben:
„If you are traveling to the USA as a foreign national, please be aware that WWOOF-USA cannot help you obtain a visa. It may benefit you to secure your visa first, and then join WWOOF-USA.
Most WWOOFers enter the USA using a tourist visa; however, it is your responsibility to determine the correct visa for your visit. Please keep in mind that WWOOF is NOT paid work or volunteering. WWOOFing is an educational experience, and WWOOF members are guests of their hosts. The United States has extremely strict labor and immigration laws that prohibit foreign nationals from “working” or “volunteering” in the country without a work visa. Most international WWOOFers communicate their intentions to visit the USA to immigration officials and enter without any problems. However, if you say that you are coming to “volunteer or work on a farm” and you don’t have a work visa, immigration probably WILL NOT LET YOU ENTER THE USA. Additionally, please note that when entering the USA, you cannot enter as a “WWOOFer,” as the meaning of this may be misunderstood by immigration officials. Wird dein B1/2 Visum nicht gewährt, darfst du später auch nicht mehr unter ESTA einreisen.
„Sollte der Konsularbeamte Grund zur Annahme haben, dass z. B. eine Einwanderungsintention besteht oder Sie eine (illegale) Arbeit in den USA aufnehmen möchten, wird der Visumantrag für die USA mit Sicherheit abgelehnt. Gerade bei ausländischen Mitbürgern, die noch nicht lange im deutschsprachigen Raum leben, oder bei sehr jungen Antragstellern wird ein Antrag sehr kritisch geprüft. Darüber hinaus stellen die US Konsulate im deutschsprachigen Raum zur einfacheren technischen Handhabung ein kombiniertes B-1 / B-2 Visum aus.“

Die Hosts wissen in der Regel nichts über die Einreisebestimmungen in ihr eigenes Land. Die sind immer wieder erstaunt wie schwer es ist.
