The second chapter of Robert Cormier’s novel „After the first death“ the beginning of assassination. The view changes between two persons: A boy named Miro, who is one of the hijackers. He and his accomplice start an assassination, which include a bus full of children. The other view is Kate, who is the bus driver.
The sixteen years old boy Miro Shantas is a hijacker in America. He is in company with a man, called Artkin, who is about thirteen and fourteen years old. The chapter opens with the two guys, who review the plan, how you don’t learn much of the plan’s details. At the beginning, you just get know that there is a bus, and that Miro hast to kill the bus driver. Everyone must know that the takeover of the bus is critical. Besides, it means to Miro to make his life meaningful. After them both and a few other assassinations had kept the bus under control, a few problems start. It begins with the bus driver: Instead of a male bus driver, (wie die Attentäter es vorhergesehen hatten) it’s a young female bus driver, named Kate. That makes Miro unsure. Besides, after Artkin had handed out the candy with drugs to the children one of the children dies. That is the reason for Artkin’s order, don’t to kill the bus driver what enrage Miro.
