I suggest using Autohotkey and compile a script of your own to control this game in the way you'd like. You can set keypresses on your keyboard to send other presses to the game, and can rebind anything to anything else.

So you'll find out what key the game wants to use for forward, on foot and in vehicle, then bind that to the same key you want to use on your keyboard."
