Penicillin - Wofür stehen G und V?
Hallo Community,
kann mir jemand sagen, wofür beim Penicillin V das "V" steht? Und analog dazu das "G" beim Penicillin G?

Ich vermute mal, es hängt mit der Systematik also Zusammensetzung zusammen.

Das G steht für Grünenthal.
Hab mich das auch Jahre lang gefragt und jetzt endlich zum Ende meines Medizinstudiums noch in Pharmakologie gelernt :)
Das war die erste deutsche Firma, die Penicillin nach dem 2. WK zugelassen hat.
Das ist im Übrigen die gleiche Firma, die einige Jahre später Thalidomid/ Contergan auf den Markt gebracht hatte.

Das "V" steht für "vertraulich", was der Miterfinder Brandl stets auf die Versuchsmappen geschrieben hatte

Dabei haben sie sich an das bisher übliche Schema gehalten dessen Ursprung in einem anderen Beitrag gut erklärt wird:
The letter “G” in Penicillin G doesn’t really mean anything. In the late 1930’s and early 1940’s, when hundreds of scientists employed by the USA and Great Britain were working diligently to identify, purify, and manufacture large quantities of penicillin for military (World War II) and civilian purposes, they quickly realized that (a) the Penicillium genus of mold produced many different types of penicillin, and (b) many of the “pure” samples of penicillin were actually mixtures of different types of penicillin.
For clear communication and an easy way to identify the different penicillins (tools for structural identification of new chemical compounds were much cruder in those days than the tools available to us today), scientists began naming them Penicillin I, Penicillin II, Penicillin III, etc. This system, however, was soon discarded in favor of a letter system (Penicillin A, B, C, D, E, F, G, … X). Penicillin G was simply the name assigned to benzylpenicillin. Because benzylpenicillin was at that time the most potent of the penicillins, the name Penicillin G became widely known, especially as penicillin began to be used widely to treat infections.
