VISA Debitkarten auf Island nutzen?
Hallo zusammen,
ich habe eine VISA Debitkarte und habe mir einen Mietwagen gebucht.
Jetzt muss ich ja eine Kaution blocken lassen.
(In Deutschland gab es diesbezüglich keine Probleme.)
Hat jemand damit schon Erfahrungen gehabt, ob das überhaupt auf Island möglich ist ?
Und wie schauts aus mit den normalen Bezahlungen zb. Lebensmittel kaufen, Essen bestellen etc. wird die Karte akzeptiert ?

Frage, Autovermietungen bevorzugen echte Kreditkarten.
Visa funktioniert weltweit, auch auf Island.
Allerdings nehmen Autovermietungen oft keine Debitkarten für die Kaution, sondern wünschen eine Kreditkarte, prüfe mal die Mietbedingungen.
In den Mietbedingungen steht schon genau drin, was akzeptiert wird. Welche Autovermietung ist es?
Sunny Cars ist nur ein Vermittler. Entscheidend ist, bei wem du am Schluss mietest. Muss ja dranstehen.

The renter agrees that the rental company can take a pre-authorization on an approved credit card (MasterCard, Visa or American Express that is in the renter’s name). Debit cards are only approved if the renter is willing to accept the risk that part of the authorization will not be refunded. This is due to the well-known and common communication problem between the issuer of debit cards and the payment handler. The rental company is not responsible if the pre-authorization on debit cards are lost. The preauthorization amount covers the estimated cost of any extras, fuel, potential additional days, toll and road fees, parking fines, administration fees and all other miscellaneous charges.

Das ist ja das Problem in den Mietbedingungen steht nur das Debitkarten evtl. nicht akzeptiert werden.
